World famous Finnish architect Eero Saarinen’s Grasshopper armchair makes comeback at imm cologne 2016. Finnish manufacturer of design furniture Tetrimäki Corp. has signed an exclusive agreement with Saarinen Family Design for the production of Grasshopper.
“Grasshopper is well known for its high Scandinavian quality, beauty and comfort. We are counting on export markets in Central Europe and the USA where Eero Saarinen lived his working life and became known as an American icon,” says Petri Pajumäki, CEO of Tetrimäki Corp.
Eero Saarinen (1910 – 1961) is best known for the pure form of his designs, from sweeping, arching structural curves to elegant organization of rectangular shapes. His first major architectural work was the General Motors Technical Center in Warren, Michigan. His other iconic works include the Jefferson National Expansion Memorial including the Gateway Arch in St. Louis, Missouri, the main terminal of Dulles International Airport near Washington, D.C. and TWA Flight Center at John F. Kennedy International Airport.
In addition to Grasshopper Tetrimäki Corp. presents at imm cologne 2016 some of its new collection of high quality designs. Former Artistic Director of Artek, Ben af Schultén, has designed a side table and a sofa table to supplement Grasshopper Collection. Tetrimäki Corp. also presents af Schultén’s new ISO Chair.
“We are very proud that internationally acclaimed Ben af Schultén has joined our team. His designs fit perfectly with the high quality and unique craftsmanship represented in our collection,” says CEO Petri Pajumaki.
