Eero Saarinen’s Grasshopper production begins in Finland

Tetrimäki Ltd, manufacturer of Eliel Saarinen’s Art Nouveau and Pauli E. Blomstedt Post Deco furniture, expands its product line to Eero Saarinen’s famous Grasshopper-armchair. Susan Saarinen, the daughter of Eero Saarinen, is taking care of the IPR of his father and grandfather. She was present at Eliel and Eero Saarinen’s former home at Hviträsk, Kirkkonummi, when the Grasshopper was launched in Finland for the very first time.

“It’s great that our family tradition continues in Finland. Our co-operation with the Tetrimäki has been excellent and quality of workmanship here is first class. We are therefore prepared to expand our co-operation even further, “said Susan Saarinen.

United States Ambassador Bruce Oreck was present at the event. Saarinen was already very well known to him for their architecture and furniture. According to him, Eero Saarinen is more famous in the United States than in Finland.

“He is known as an American icon. After all, he designed, for example, General Motors Technical Centre Headquarters, Thomas Jefferson Memorial and Washington-Dulles International Airport and the TWA terminal at Kennedy airport in New York. My wife is also a keen Eliel Saarinen and Art Nouveau fan, “Ambassador Oreck said.

Tetrimäki maintains  Finnish culture and tradition of craftsmanship and high-quality furniture design. The company focuses on classic products that are suitable for the modern home. “We believe in  design, quality and usability. Classics such as the Grasshopper have definitely a good chance to succeed as well in Finnish as in American homes, ” believes CEO  of Tetrimäki  Petri Pajumäki.

Tetrimäen products are available in stores of Boknäs in Helsinki, Vantaa, Turku and Tampere. They can also be ordered directly from the online store at www.tetrimakifurniture.com .
